Mondo Generator to re-issue Cocaine Rodeo

In 1997, Nick Oliveri together with Josh Homme and Brant Bjork formed Mondo Generator and the album recorded at this time was 'Cocaine Rodeo'. As Nick and Josh got increasingly busy with Queens Of The Stone Age, the album didn't see a release until 2000. When it was released it received critical acclaim and the fact their was an unofficial Kyuss reunion on the release(John Garcia provides some vocals to one of the tracks) caused plenty of excitement among fans of that now legendary band. Since its release, QOTSA continued to rise but Nick still found time to put out another album in 2003. Following his departure from QOTSA in 2004, Mondo Generator became the priority of Nick Oliveri and 'Dead Planet' was released by the band in 2006 (in Australia by Impedance Records in 2007). With the debut album out of print for a few years and some bonus recordings from the session still laying around, Nick decided it was time to get it back out there again. He asked if we wanted to release it, we said yes let's do it, so in June we are pleased to announce that 'Cocaine Rodeo' will be re-issued via Impedance Records with new artwork, extra tracks and bonus live disc.

Nick Oliveri solo album on the way

You may know him as the long haired bass player on the early Kyuss albums or as the mysterious Rex Everything in The Dwarves. Others will know him as one of the creative partners behind Queens Of The Stone Age and more recently the screaming front man of Mondo Generator. He is of course, Nick Oliveri. A man that really needs no introduction to rock fans across the world. Throughout his career with the aforementioned bands, Nick has found time to play intimate, solo acoustic shows. Just him and his acoustic guitar, occasionally with some guests for a song or two. Blending songs he has written for the bands he has played in, specifically written songs for the solo shows and well chosen covers, Nick has showcased what a great songwriter and musician he is. We are excited to announce that over the last six months, Nick has been recording tracks in this form and they have now come together to make up his new solo album 'Death Acoustic'. The album is set for release mid year, we'll keep you updated on an exact release date.

The New Christs to release new album on Impedance Records

Twenty five years after they first formed and more than five years since the release of their last studio album, The New Christs are set to release their brand new full length album in May.

It has been an interesting journey since Radio Birdman front man Rob Younger formed The New Christs in 1984 to support Iggy Pop on his Australian tour of that year. A number of single releases featuring several line ups of friends followed before the band recorded and released their debut album ‘Distemper’ in 1989.

Following the European tour in support of the album release, the band split up before briefly reforming in 1990 to support The Ramones on their Australian tour. Once again after that tour the band took a three year hiatus before Rob teamed up with bassist Christian Houllemare (Happy Hate Me Nots) and Bill Gibson (Lemonheads, Eastern Dark) to record ‘The Pedestal’ ep and ‘Woe Betide’ mini-album. This was then followed by the 1997 release of the album ‘Lower Yourself’ which the band once again toured Europe on the back of.

In 2001, The New Christs recorded their full length album ‘We Got This’ but due to problems with the label who had initially commissioned the recording, it would be some time before it was finally released and by that time due to various reasons the band had once again split. After spending a couple of years producing bands and touring with the reformed Radio Birdman, Rob assembled the current version of The New Christs in 2006. Former bass player Jim Dickson returned to the band and new recruits Stu Wilson(drums), Dave Kettley(guitar) and Brent Williams(guitar) lead the band into a new era.

They headed off to Europe, playing to adoring fans across Spain, France, Germany and Belgium while also managing to play some shows in their home country. With the bands line up the most stable in the history of The New Christs, they churned out a bunch of new songs in preparation for the recording of a new album.

In December of 2008 the band began work on their as yet untitled full length album which has been scheduled for worldwide release on the Impedance Records label in early May 2009. The New Christs will kick off a European tour in mid May in support of the release.

Buggirl joins the Impedance Records family

One look at the tour schedule of Buggirl will show you exactly how hard working these guys are. Jumping on a plane from their Australian home in May 2007, the duo headed for Europe and spent the next eight months touring across the continent. They headed back for a few shows on home soil and then did it all again in 2008. Throughout their European travels they have played Wacken showcases and Popkomm festivals and toured alongside The Damned, Mad Sin, Danko Jones and Brant Bjork. Buggirl have earned the praise of the media in that part of the world, particularly the UK. Media highlights include a great appearance on Total Rock Radio with Malcom Dome, and in November featuring on the cover mount CD of giant British music magazine Classic Rock alongside The Datsuns, Airbourne, Stone Gods, The Donnas and Rose Tattoo.

Formed by siblings Amber(guitars/vocals) and Clinton(drums/vocals) in 2003, the band first grabbed some attention in Australia with their debut release ‘Looming Shadows’ in 2005 with help on production from former Tumbleweed front man Richie Lewis. They followed that with their first international jaunt in late 2005 with a handful of shows in North America and Europe. This trip planted the seeds for their following tours and set the standard for the bands future.

Long time fans of the band, the crew behind Impedance Records had watched the duo progress over the last couple of years and admired their strong work ethic, so when the chance came up to sign the band, they jumped at it. Kicking off the deal will be the Australian release of their latest album ‘Rock n Roll Hell’ in early 2009. Released in Europe in 2008, the busy schedule of the band meant it hasn’t been released in their home country. With some upcoming Australian shows happening, it was time to fix that situation.

The release of the album will precede their brand new studio album which is due to drop worldwide in September 2009. Buggirl will travel to the USA in May 2009 to record the new album with renowned producer Sylvia Massy (Tool, System Of A Down, Spiderbait, The Black Crowes, Cog). They will also spend plenty of 2009 touring internationally with yet another European tour planned and also a return to North America for the first time since 2005. They’ll then return to Australia next summer to tour in support of their new album.
